Back to school time! is your child’s asthma under control?

Back-to-school time is a great time to evaluate asthma and allergy control with kids. When school starts, students tend to share viral upper respiratory infections (cold viruses). These often trigger flares of asthma and are a common cause of “asthma attacks.” Unfortunately, this occurs at a time while there is heavy exposure to late-summer and fall pollens, which further worsen people’s asthma and underlying allergies.

A lot of parents take advantage of this time of year to meet with their allergist or primary doctor to make sure their child’s asthma and allergies are fully controlled and to make sure medications are up-to-date. Back to school doctor visits for children with asthma and allergy concerns is also a great opportunity to take care of school medication forms.
